CUSTOM, 2015 Triumph Rocket 111

PHASE 1 - THE VISION. THE TEAR DOWN.

Custom Bike Steve:

โ€œThe motorcycle came to us as a standard 2015 Triumph Rocket 3. As a commission project, the 6ft 8in client wanted to customise the fit of the bike. To make the seating and leg position more comfortable, we moved the foot pegs 4 inches forward. We talked about changing the bars, but it was a simple modification by titling them slightly forward. The ride and handlebars are now perfect for the client.

In terms of style, we went for Steam Punk, which is a bit of rust, wear and tare, and quirky de-chroming. To achieve this effect, the paint on the rear and front mud guards, tank, and side panels was rusted, then stripped back. 8 coats of clear coat were applied over the rusting metal to contain the rust look.โ€

PHASE 2 - THE FABRICATION.

โ€œOn the air filter side, weโ€™ve done away with the stock air box. Iโ€™ve made a tube attach to the three cylinder air intakes, with the oversize air filter to create a ram-air effect.

We added a single headlamp - they call it the jail grill - opposed to the original twin headlamps.

We also took the twin clocks away and added a small digital speedo.

The front mud guard is half the size. Itโ€™s been trimmed back to provide a better shape with mounted indicators on the front.โ€

โ€œOn the back, we have two small 10l fuel cans as saddlebags, which also keep the lighting.

The back mud guard, like the front, has been trimmed back and shaped to reveal the monster 240 rear tyre on this 2300cc machine.

The exhaust is made by Zard, which has enhanced the style.

The seat is the same shape for rider and pillion. Itโ€™s getting recovered in a dark and light tan leather, which is on its way backโ€ฆโ€
